ABOUT THE UAE

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a federation of seven states that has grown from a quiet backwater to one of the Middle East’s most important economic centres. Though traditionally conservative, the UAE is one of the most liberal countries in the Gulf.

A 7 hour flight from the UK, the region has a large expat population spread throughout the country with the largest groups based in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The smaller emirates, including Ras al Khaimah, Fujariah and Ajman are seeing their expat population growing steadily with increasing tourism and new hotels and shopping malls opening.

Each emirate is within close proximity of each other and no further than 90 minutes drive from Dubai.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

We work with schools across the UAE to fill posts from Kindergarten right the way through to senior school. The majority of schools in the region are through schools and cater for children aged 2-18. You will find American and British curriculums and a mixture of single sex and co-educational institutions.

There are opportunities for teachers from across Foundation Stage/KG/Primary and Secondary across all subject areas. The majority of schools prefer candidates with QTS status however some posts will be suitable for NQT status applicants.

The Ministry of Education (MoE) has developed the Education 2020 Strategy, which is designed to bring significant qualitative improvement in the education system.  Smart learning programs, new teachers’ codes, licensing and evaluations systems, as well as curriculum revision, including teaching mathematics and science through English, are all part of the strategy. As such, developments are being implemented across schools in line with MOE guidance.

In general teaching contracts are for two years and include accommodation and basic utilities, annual flight, medical insurance and annual gratuity.

The key recruitment period for the next school year are Jan/Feb/March of current school year and April/May. There can be some short notice posts in late August as well. A selection of posts available will be posted on our vacancies page
